What T's Bumpin'? - Asher Roth: The Greenhouse Effect Vol. 1

I realize that I am not the first one to acknowledge how sick Asher Roth is but I felt a need to post about the mixtape The Greenhouse Effect Vol. 1 because it is just that good.  If you are a fan of hip-hop, plz dl this album immediately.

From start to finish, this album is UNREAL.  Asher sounds like Eminem in his prime.  The comparison to Em is apparent in the first few bars.

Interest in the PA representative has been growing organically via his myspace page as well as other web 2.0 mediums.  Check out his website here.

Peace.

Kitchen Nightmares - Revisited

Last night, the second season of Kitchen Nightmares kicked off on Fox with a 2-hour special "Revisited."  In this episode, Chef Gordon Ramsay followed up with all of the restaurants that he had consulted in the first season.

The first half of the show was thoroughly entertaining.  This is due to the sheer entertainment value of Chef Ramsay.  It was nice to hear how the various establishments had benefited from the Chef's consultation.

Unfortunately, the second half of the show was not broadcast due to it being interrupted by the RNC.  Looks like the fans loose out on this one because this is not going to be aired anytime soon.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to a kick ass season of Kitchen Nightmares!

Light The Night

I am pleased to say that I will be volunteering at the Light The Night walk on September 27th. Being a cancer survivor myself, this is going to be a great opportunity to give something back to the community. If anyone would like to join, email Kristen Perry at Kristen.Perry@lls.org. This should be a good experience and I'm looking forward to helping out in any way that I can!

Keep It Old School: They Call Me D-Nice

Greetings my small but precious audience!

Since it is Monday and everyone is dragging their feet, I decided to post the video They Call Me D-Nice from one of my favorite old school rappers, D-Nice.  D-Nice, who began his career with Boogie Down Productions (a la KRS-One and Scott La Rock), comes from an era of hip-hop that was focused on sharp lyrics and funky beats blended together with a positive message.  D-Nice was way ahead of his time and that is exemplified in They Call Me D-Nice.  The beat  and the lyrics on this track make it a classic.  Click here for D-Nice's bio.  Enjoy!

What's T Bumpin'? - Elzhi: The Preface

Elzhi: The Preface

My friend Drew Nice linked me to this album earlier in the week and I must say that I am loving the raw, hip-hop feel of this work. The game definately needs Elzhi right now...someone who's not obsessed with big hooks, synthasizer-laden beats, and somebody else's lifestyle (i.e. every mainstream rapper today). I could not give this album the accurate, quality review that it deserves so I'll just say that I'm eager to delve into this one more. My current favorite song on this album: Motown 25.

What's T Bumpin'? - Jack Johnson: Sleep Through The Static

I recently asked a friend, who is a young college student/musician, what he was currently listening to and he told me to check out Jack Johnson's new album Sleep Through The Static. I was pleased to hear the melodic, harmonious flow present on this album. I must say that this album is a breath of fresh air--a nice change from the onslaught of hip-hop/rap that we experience day-to-day. If you get a chance, I recommend that you acquire this album, turn the lights low, and enjoy the soothing sounds from the Hawaii-native. Thanks for the hook-up Ryan!

The Game "I'm too reckless for [Jay-Z]" LOL

Game: "Now, if the man wants to wage a war of words or get into some type of beef, I’m all for it. It would be an honor to beef with Jay-Z. That’s one of the reasons I try to bait him, but he won’t bite. Jay-Z’s smart and he’s going to sit back and wait for this to simmer down. Plus I’m way too disrespectful for the likes of a Jay-Z, and I go too hard. Jay-Z is a subliminal rapper, he uses his words and isolates you like that. I go hard, straight for the jugular, with a knife and I’m cutting your throat and you’re going to bleed all over Manhattan when you beef with me. It’s that serious. When I beef, it’s relentless. I won’t stop until one of us is dead, period. And that’s lyrically. I don’t have to box or fight, or take it to the streets. We’ll keep it a straight wax-war, that’s what beef is all about. But I’m too reckless for him"

My take on this: Game and Jay-Z should not be talked about in the same sentence. The fact that Game thinks that Jay would give him the time of day is humorous. That would be an insult to rap. Anyhow, hit me up if you wanna give me your opinion on this.

Peace

Great hiking at Diamond Lake in Eldora, CO

If you live in Northern Colorado and haven't checked out Diamond Lake in Eldora, CO, you are missing out. This hike is just outside of Nederland, CO and is surreal. I suggest you hit it up as soon as you get a chance. Just head up to Nederland, get a sandwich at Bella's Italian Deli and ask which direction to go in for this hike. Should be simple. Happy hiking!

J-O-B, JOB!

Finding a career is not an easy task.

With a B.A. in Communication from CU Boulder and diverse experience as a professional, finding the right position with the right company has turned out to be quite the challenge.

I am steering clear of companies that bring up ripoffreport.com links when googled. High-pressure, 100% commission-based sales positions are also something I am also avoiding. Everybody wants someone to work for them for nothing, so how about somebody who hasn't worked their ass off and paid and arm and a leg for a college education?  Hopefully this isn't too much to ask.

What I am interested in is a position related to media relations, marketing, PR, journalism, and/or advertising.  All of these fields intermingle with one another so let's just throw them all in one basket for practical purposes.

What qualifies me for a position in this field is my knowledge in Communication in addition to my experience with Kroenke Sports Enterprise as an intern with the Media Relations Department of the Colorado Rapids (MLS).  Interning with KSE gave me invaluable experience working directly with various major media outlets and allowed me to realize that this is the field that I would like to continue to pursue as a professional.  Having put in the groundwork getting diverse experience as a professional for the last few years, I am ready to find a long-term symbiotic relationship with a company that I can feel good working with.

Thanks for reading.
